Password policies can be selected from a 0 through 4 scale depending on desired password strengths. A password strength of level 0 will only accept passwords with:
- A Minimum of 8 characters.
- At least number.
- At least one symbol.
- At least one capital letter.
When you set the password policies from 0 to Level 1, the system begins scoring passwords based on an algorithm that considers popular passwords, dictionary words, keyboard combinations, dates, swapping numbers for letters and other common factors.
Users will only be able to register with passwords that are judged sufficiently secure and the algorithm becomes stricter about the passwords it will accept as you move the policies up through the policy levels from level 1 to level 4.
All password strengths will allow you a maximum of five wrong password attempts. For instructions on changing password policies, please see our article on the topic.
If you are uncomfortable with the password policies but want to enhance login security, please consider enabling two-factor authentication.
